Butte Falls was incorporated in 1911 and was a very busy logging town. Although the logging industry has pretty much died out in this area, there are still a few local logging operations that remain.

The town has one gas station, two schools, two churches, two museums, three eating establishments, one bar, one general store, a city hall, a library, a community hall, a community center, and a Forest Service office. And yes, we do have a falls too.

We are surrounded by timber on all sides and are listed in Ripely’s Believe It Or Not as the only town in the USA that has a fence completely around it. The fence is to keep the cows out (open range) but sometimes we like to say it’s to keep the people in. Our population is 435, and since we are fenced there is virtually no room for growth.

We have the best drinking water around, which comes out of Ginger Springs, and have recently established a water bottling plant. We have a Mayor and six council members that govern the town, and we have many volunteers in this community with huge hearts.

Butte Falls, Oregon and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places in the country.
