This
is a station on the main line of the Southern Pacific Company
nine miles north of Salem. It was named for Linus Brooks,
who was born in Ohio in 1805 and came to Oregon from Illinois
in 1850 and settled near the present site of the community.
Brooks post office was established in 1871, about the time
the railroad was build through. For additional information
about the Brooks family, see editorial page of the Oregon
journal, June 25, 1927.
