The
John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is located nine miles
west of Dayville. The region boasts four designated Wild
and Scenic rivers, a national park, and beautiful high desert
scenery popular with photographers, bird watchers and hikers.
The North side, Murderers Creek and Ochoco hunting units
intersect at Dayville, and the area is popular throughout
the state for deer and elk hunting, as well as upland game
birds.
SPOTLIGHT
Annual
events include a cross country horse race, a parade, activities
in the park, a duck race, and a dance.
