Netarts is a small community situated at the mouth of the Netarts Bay. The earliest Tillamook Native American settlement in the county was in the Netarts area and believed to be in the early 1400's. The name "Ne ta at" meant "near the water". The first white settlement of Netarts Bay was in 1863.
